Norvell Gets Extension with FSU
Florida State University’s head coach Mike Norvell signed an extension for eight years worth up to 80 million to remain with the university. In Norvell’s four years with FSU he has turned the program back into a powerhouse in the ACC. Norvell’s record with the Seminoles in those four years is 31-17. He has led the team to a bowl game appearance in three out of four of those years with a pass for 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.
In the last two years Norvell has been able to build an impressive 23-4 record with the Seminoles. Including an undefeated regular season in 2023 as well as one ACC championship. Norvell has accomplished many things in his coaching career but one missing piece is a CFB playoff appearance.
This 2023 FSU squad was a team that faced unfortunate events when it came to the College football playoffs this year. There was no reason that they should not have been included. This was the first time in CFB playoff history that an undefeated power five school was excluded from the playoffs. Mike Norvell was quoted as saying he was “more hurt for his players” due to being left out. Although senior QB Jordan Travis was injured they deserved a chance.
However, the future is bright in Tallahassee, along with Norvell’s extension he has also brought in a top ten recruiting class for 2024. With 36 commits this class includes former Oregon State QB Dj Uiagalelei, former University of Georgia LB Marvin Jones Jr. and the number one TE recruit Landen Thomas. With players returning back to the school this Seminoles team is set to make their first CFB playoff appearance in 2025.
