The point guard position has been one of the most loaded positions, in terms of star talent, for many years now. This doesn’t change at all heading into the 2023-2024 season, as there are so many different candidates for the five best point guards. The players on this list can be very interchangeable, but as of now these are the five best point guards.

5. De’Aron Fox

The Sacramento Kings shocked the world when they finished with the third-best record in the Western Conference, and a big part of that success was De'Aaron Fox. Fox is one of the most skilled finishers in the league and arguably the fastest player we have seen in years. The future is looking bright for the Kings, as Fox is just now entering the prime of his career.

4. Ja Morant

While there has been a lot of off-the-court controversy with Ja Morant, there is no denying his talent level on the court. Morant is easily the most athletic player on this list, as his vertical and ability to finish on difficult dunks have turned him into a superstar. Even though Morant hasn’t cracked the top three yet, it is only a matter of time, as he is only 23 years old.

3. Damian Lillard

Damian Lillard has been a top-five point guard in the league since only a year or two after being drafted. While Lillard has never led the Trail Blazers to a finals appearance, the team had multiple second-round appearances, and one hard-fought battle in the Western Conference Finals. Lillard has had a hall-of-fame career and is on the NBA’s list of the 75 best players. Even with all of Lillard's successes through the years he is still an elite player in this league.

2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had an absolute breakout season this year, averaging over thirty points a game. Gilgeous-Alexander was one of only six players to accomplish this feat, and it has put him on the map as one of the best point guards in this league. He made it to the All-NBA first team and even secured a spot in the play-in tournament for his young Thunder team.

1. Stephen Curry

At 35 years old, Stephen Curry remains the best point guard in the league. He is still by far the best three-point shooter in the entire NBA and has shown no signs of slowing down. Curry is arguably the toughest player to guard in the NBA, and nothing has changed since last season. After acquiring Chris Paul in the offseason, the Warriors are definitely in the mix as a championship threat. If Curry wins another championship next season, he will cement himself as the best point guard in the league and arguably the best point guard to ever play.
