The MVP Race is cutting it close, REALLY Close

4.4.22

Jaden Rivers

With the season approaching its end, the finish line grows ever closer in regard to this year’s MVP.  The ladder had featured tons of names this year but it’s starting to etch to the end. Between Nikola Jokic; the Reining MVP, Joel Embiid, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Respectively there all having legendary seasons respectively. Joel’s scoring tear had reached the likes of Wilt Chamberlain adjusted for pace. Giannis became the all-time leading scorer in Bucks history, and Jokic was the second player in NBA history to have 45 pts on 70% shooting.

Joel Embiid

He’s been the favorite for most of the year and forthrightly so, after playing 65 games he’s currently 3rd in scoring with 30.2 pts, 11.6 rebounds, along with 1.5 blk, and a 1.1 stl to add along. He’s been paramount to his team’s success and in the eyes of the media all year along with the year prior.  Without Joel Embiid the 76ers would be nowhere in the same stratosphere as the top teams in the NBA let alone even the Eastern Conference.  He hadn’t had much help all season, he’s still providing as well.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Reigning Champ and Finals MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo, has put on a clinic as well. He’s managed to add more to his game, passing, a low post game, as well as sustaining an all-time level of play. 6-8 without Giannis he has just a case as any posting a stat line of 30.1pts, 11.6 rbnds, 5.8 assts, collecting a steel and block to add.

  Nikola Jokic

Jokic is different from the rest, he may not score as much but he’s extremely savvy. Leading in 4 different advanced categories he affects the game in a multitude of ways. He’s contested the most shots at the rim, highest +\-, win shares, while playing all 72 games of the season. Jokic is a class act that can’t be forgotten as he’s been on a recent tear to pull Denver ahead of the pack.
