Saddiq Bey on the trade block?

Detroit, Michigan (PSF) - We are now halfway through the NBA season, and we are starting to get a clearer picture of the serious contenders and the lottery teams. With the trade deadline less than a month out, we should expect to see some trades happening soon.

The Detroit Pistons are currently the 14th seed in the East with a record of 12-33 and are looking to be in the Victor Wembenyama sweepstakes. Saddiq Bey is an exceptional role player on a tanking team, so should the Pistons look to trade him to a contender while his value is high? I think so.

Even though Bey started the season slowly, shooting under 30 percent from three, he has started to pick it up in the last twenty games shooting 39 percent from three and averaging 13.3 points per game.

An underrated part of Bey’s game is his perimeter defense which makes him more valuable, and I honestly think Detroit could receive a first-round pick if they were looking to move him before the deadline. As far as contenders go, I think there are a few teams that should be putting in a call for the exceptional three-and-D player.

Let’s start with the Boston Celtics. I feel like this would be the perfect fit for Bey with his play style. Boston has a few three-and-D role players in Grant Williams and Sam Hauser, but Hauser is more of a spot-up shooter, as his defense is a liability for Boston when he is on the floor. I think Bey could fill this role better, and having that defense would help Boston try to get back to their elite defense from last season.

Next up is the Denver Nuggets. This sounds like a system in which Bey could thrive. With Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic playing their two-man game, Bey could easily use his play style and look like a star role player. I mean, who wouldn’t want to play next to a talent like Jokic? Bey could be Jokic’s favorite teammate if he gets open on off-ball screens and hits open three’s as we all know, Jokic will make the perfect read to him.

Lastly is the Philadelphia 76ers. This team lacks shooting and defense. Outside of their top three in Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Tyrese Maxey, this team should be looking to move every player to upgrade this roster if they even want to contend with Boston, Milwaukee, Brooklyn, and Cleveland in the East. They could possibly move Tobias Harris and his enormous contract while throwing in a first-round pick for Bey, but of course, the Pistons would have to be willing to take on a contract of Harris’s.

If the Detroit Pistons were smart, they would move Bey, as they could use as many picks as possible during their rebuild process.
