How Good is Tyrese Haliburton?
It might be time to start talking about Tyrese in the top-3 Point Guard debate. Besides Luka and Steph who is doing what Tyrese is doing? To be doing this at the age of 23 is insanity. At 11-8 the Indiana Pacers sit 6th in the Eastern Conference standings and 5-0 in the In-Season tournament. Led by Haliburton, this young fast paced team is showing many good flashes early on this year. Haliburton current season stats are as shown below:
MIN:34.3 FG%:52.1 3P%:44.1 FT%:88.1 REB:4.0 AST:11.9 BLK :0.6 STL:1.1 TO:2.4 PTS :26.9
Many people are saying that it has only been 17 games so we cannot jump the gun. We really are not appreciating what we are witnessing. 27 and 11 on almost 50/40/90 shooting splits this early in his career is scary. His game will only get more polished as he plays more and gains some playoff experience.
With an All-Star selection under his belt, he only looks to build on this. As of right now I do not see another guard that deserves to start over him in the ASG. He currently sits 4th in the MVP race behind Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Among the candidates he is third in WS which is short for Win Shares which is an estimate of the number of wins contributed by a palyer.
