Predicting The Playoff Standings For The Eastern Conference: Who comes Out On Top?

After the top three or four teams in the Eastern Conference, things are pretty wide open. The Boston Celtics still appear to be the team to beat after they added Kristaps Porzingis this off-season. They did, however, lose Marcus Smart and Grant Williams, who are two key pieces to the success they have had in recent years. The Milwaukee Bucks had a disappointing first round exit after they lost to the Heat in just five games. They were able to keep their core together after they re-signed Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton. They also added a veteran shooter in Malik Beasley. The Sixers are still in a weird situation with James Harden, who appears to want out. The Miami Heat seem poised to be one of the top teams in the East despite losing Gabe Vincent and Max Strus. But will they have enough depth to make another run at the NBA finals? Getting Dame sure would help.

So, what sleeper teams are there in the East? The Pacers are a team that could definitely make the playoffs after they added NBA champion Bruce Brown, rookie Jarace Walker, and Obi Toppin. They have an impressive collection of young talent led by all-star Tyrese Haliburton, and it would not be a shock if they were a top eight seed in the East next season. The Orlando Magic are another team with borderline playoff potential. Led by Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, the Magic have an impressive young core of wings and guards. They already made quite the jump last season, so fans can expect them to make another jump next season.
