New Year, Same Knicks
After that awesome stretch from Kemba Walker where it looked like a page might be turning for New York’s basketball team, the finger got stuck on the page. Nothing else for this team has changed, as my thoughts on them are basically no different than they were after game 8, which was a loss against the Indiana Pacers where the team’s defensive identity went missing, and the teams rotations were questionable. It is so incredible to see how a team like the New York Knicks can be such a roller coaster to pay attention to, yet you know what’s going to happen almost every time.
The Knicks today (January 3rd), are sitting at 17-20, which is good enough for the 11th seed in the East, tied with the Hawks for 12th as well. The Knicks, like every other team in the NBA, have been destroyed by health and safety protocols, rarely having the ability to put a full roster on the floor ever.
Because of this, many teams are having to throw a bunch of players who don’t know how to play together very well on the floor and hope for the best. However, the story for the Knicks this entire season has been how awful the starting lineup plays, and how well the bench plays. So, when the Knicks begin to lose starters, and the bench players were subbing in, those guys would do pretty well.
In the coming weeks, the Knicks do not have a crazy, difficult schedule whatsoever, but knowing the Knicks, we know exactly what type of effort they are going to show. To go out on a limb here, I am going to say the Knicks go 1-1 against the Celtics. Also, they probably go 4-4 in the next 8 games, losing to teams like the Spurs while beating a team like the Mavericks. It’s the same story, and yet it is an incredible ride.
Let’s go Knicks.
