Lakers Vs Warriors Game Day Preview

The time has finally come for the start of the NBA season for the Los Angeles Lakers, and what better way to kick off the season than spoiling ring night for the Golden State Warriors. Going into this game, there is a lot of doubt in the minds of Lakers Nation after a rough preseason, so a win on opening night will go a long way. Today I will go over my predictions for this matchup and talk about my excitement for the upcoming NBA season.

Anthony Davis

There is a reason I am starting this conversation off with Anthony Davis and not LeBron James. AD is the key to the Lakers having a successful season, starting with today's game. Overall, I was impressed with Davis's performances in the preseason, but to stay on topic, I will talk about his game vs. the Warriors.

Davis ended the game with 28 points at the half. This was impressive because, for the most part, the Warriors were playing all their starters and role players (besides Draymond Green), and Davis had his way. I don't think the Warriors will have a counter to Davis's offensive bag, and as long as Davis stays healthy, he will produce on both ends of the floor.

I expect nothing less for tonight's matchup as well, and I have a bold prediction that Davis will finish with 42 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks, and five assists. I believe that when healthy, Davis is the second-best power forward behind Giannis Antetokounmpo. I think a dominant performance from Daivs tonight can set the tone for the season.

LeBron James

I expect James to have a good game as well, considering he's playing against a longtime rival Golden State Warriors, and it's their ring night. It's no secret that James is getting older, and with that age comes less chances to chase that fifth championship. I think James knows this is one of his last chances to win another championship, and I expect him to perform well tonight and throughout the season. In this game, I predict that James will have a 25-point triple-double and contribute to the Lakers winning and spoiling opening night.

I believe that to have a successful season, the Lakers must make a statement, and what better way to do that than a win against the defending champions. I believe the Lakers will win vs. the Golden State Warriors, and I will double down and say with a margin of 25 or more points, with the final score being 115-90. With the combined force of Davis and James, this Lakers squad is a team to reckon with, and the only thing that can stop them is injuries. I'm excited about this season and look forward to writing about this team's journey. There will be up and downs but remember Lakers Nation always to stay strong as we embark on the quest for 18.
