New York, NY (PSF)— On Monday Night the Knicks played another thriller at Madison Square Garden where the New York Knicks all-star Julius Randle scored a career-high 57 points. Randle’s superstar performance ultimately couldn’t save the Knicks from taking the loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but a scoring explosion from Randle had fans excited as the season winds down towards the playoffs. Randle had 51 points after three quarters of play and most thought that Randle was going for the record of the highest scoring performance in Knicks franchise history. Carmelo Anthony still tops the list with 62 points, but Randle is now third on the list behind Bernard King who had 60.

Still a disappointing loss for the Knicks especially since they had to fight for most of the game to get out of the early hole they found themselves in. Minnesota scored 42 points in the first quarter alone, which puts any team in a difficult spot. Even without guard Anthony Edwards and center Karl Anthony Towns the Timberwolves came out on fire, but Randle explosion made it a close game. Julius would do most of his damage in the third quarter where he scored 26 points on eight made threes.

As a fan watching this game it felt like it should have gone the Knicks way, but there is upside. The Knicks have nine games left before the start of the playoffs and yes they did start the game poorly against an injured team, but they did finish the game playing hard and this is reassuring to Knicks fans who have high hopes for this team come April.
