How Would An Expansion Team in Vegas Impact the NBA
The NBA has recently considered adding an expansion team to Las Vegas, which could have some benefits and doubts for the NBA in general. Vegas does play a significant role in the NBA’s operations as it’s the primary host for the NBA’s Summer League and has also hosted the 2007 NBA All-Star Game as the only non-NBA city ever to host. There is no doubt that Vegas’s NBA Team will play in the T-Mobile Arena, which currently hosts the NHL Stanley Cup Champion Golden Knights and WNBA Champion Aces, providing a strong support system for pro sports teams playing in Vegas. However, because of the NBA’s favoritism to Vegas, it may try to build a super team to rival other powerhouse teams in the NBA to build revenue in the city, especially since the massive hotels and casinos in Vegas help to attract large amounts of tourism and this could be a big money maker for the NBA. The team in Vegas can also be very profitable for the NBA because it will provide intense competition for the Lakers, Suns, Warriors, Kings, Clippers, and Jazz, the solidified teams in the Western Conference. Therefore, building a new expansion franchise in Las Vegas is a great way for the NBA to build revenue and make themselves more appealing to non-NBA fans to market their brand.
