How Jimmy Butler Became “Himmy Buckets”

One of the breakout stars in the NBA Finals is the man, the myth, and soon-to-be legend, Jimmy Butler, aka “Himmy Buckets”. The nickname soon became a trademark after Butler’s phenomenal NBA season. Averaging 22.9 points, 5.3 assists, 5.9 rebounds, and playing about 33. 4 minutes per game during the regular season, Butler’s stats in the playoffs has been on another level. During the 2022 playoffs, he averaged 24.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists through four playoff runs with the Heat. These are the best postseason statistics Butler has ever recorded for any team he's ever played with.
For the duration of Butler’s career, he has always been a star player. Butler was the 30th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft to the Chicago Bulls and played for six seasons up to 2017. In his time in Chicago, he showed early signs of an acclaimed competitor. In 2015, he was named NBA's Most Improved Player while playing with the Bulls. Throughout his NBA career, he played for the Timberwolves from 2017-18 to 2018-19, the 76ers in 2018-19, and is currently playing for the Miami Heat after being traded from Philadelphia in 2019. Throughout his 12, and-counting, season career, Butler has been a six-time NBA All-Star, a five-time All-NBA Team honoree, a five-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team honoree, and an Olympic gold medalist: A man that is full of accomplishments!
