COUSINS ADDS MUCH NEEDED DEPTH AT THE CENTER POSITION FOR MILWAUKEE

Breaking News out of Milwaukee. DeMarcus Cousins is planning to sign a 1-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks. Cousins is now 31 and was not on a roster to start the 2021 season. In 2020, Cousins appeared in 16 games with the Clippers where he averaged close to 8 points and 5 rebounds in just 13 minutes per game. This all came with a 53.7% field goal percentage. At his best, Cousins was an MVP candidate. Due to a series of leg injuries, Cousins will likely never be able to be a franchise player again. However, Cousins could certainly play a key role for the Bucks as they continue their quest for a title defense. Milwaukee has been without their starting center Brook Lopez, aka “Splash Mountain” since game 2 of the regular season. They have been able to manage well using Giannis and Bobby Portis to handle the rebounding and other big-man responsibilities. However, it is clear that they could use some extra help as Giannis currently leads the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. Cousins stands at nearly 7 feet tall and could be a huge relief in the paint with defense and rebounding. Even when Lopez returns, having another true big to come off the bench could remove a lot of weight from Antetokounmpo and Portis’ shoulders. It will be interesting to see how Cousins does in Milwaukee, but if he is a fit, he could be a big help to the Bucks in trying to win back-to-back titles.
