3 Takeaways From Knicks vs Lakers

1. Immanuel Quickley has officially turned his season around

It felt like any time the Knicks needed something to go their way, wether a bounce, or a tipped pass, it was Quickley right in the thick of it. He had multiple 3’s in the 4th quarter that bounced around the rim multiple times before finally dropping, as well as a floater late in the game.

2. Evan Fournier loves national television

The Knicks have had 4 nationally televised games so far this season, those games being against the Celtics, 76ers, Bucks, and on Tuesday, the Lakers. Evan Fournier in those 4 games is averaging 20.75 points per game, compared to his total regular season average of 12.8 points per game. His defense is also more tolerable in nationally televised games, where he forces tougher shots and sees that screens are not too difficult to get through.

His confidence never wavers, but the ball finds a way down on national television for him.

3. The Knicks still think they can flip a switch on defense whenever they like

The Knicks were playing some of the best defense that they have played throughout this whole season, right up until about 2 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. After that, they were giving up easy 3’s, failing to communicate on pick and rolls, and generally being super lazy on the defensive end by standing straight up.

That type of mentality is going to crush them later in the season if they have any hope of being a successful playoff team this time around. Man, they won’t even make the playoffs with that lacksadalsicle defense.

Some other little things to note is Kemba and RJ’s continued inconsistency, Randle not playing too boneheaded, and Obi continuing to be better on both ends of the floor, even if the defense is still terrible.

The Knicks play the Suns tonight with a chance to start a win streak.
