Are NBA2K Ratings Biased?

New York, New York (PSF) - We are preparing for the release of the popular game NBA 2K annually. This year’s release is very anticipated with the new rosters due to free agency and trades, new gameplay with cross-gen being available, and more classic team rosters.

This year's rankings for NBA 2k24 are coming out little by little. Recent ratings showed Jamal Murray at 88 and Jaylen Brown’s rating at 89. Granted, Brown was an All-Star and All-NBA player this year.

However, Murray is a better scorer and ball-handler than Brown. The season averages for Brown were 26.6 points per game, 6.9 rebounds a game, and 3.5 assist a game. Murray's averages were 20.0 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, and 6.2 assists a game. Keep in mind, Murray was putting up these numbers after coming back from injury.

In this past postseason, Murray’s play took a big leap as being a great scorer and playmaker alongside Nikola Jovic. Meanwhile, Jaylen Brown struggled in the postseason.

Jamal Murray should be a higher rating than Jaylen Brown due to what we saw as the kind of player he can be throughout the playoffs, which ultimately ended with the Denver Nuggets winning the NBA Championship.
