A new signing in Dallas

Cardiac Kemba Walker is back on an NBA team after spending a short time out of the league.

The Dallas Mavericks, who are desperately looking for more guards to score and initiate the offense, have taken a chance and signed the veteran Walker. The deal is non-guaranteed and only for one year, but with the release of Facundo Campazzo following this signing, Walker might be walking into a decent role with Dallas.

This is not Dallas’s first time targeting Walker, and although he is not the all-star he once was, he is undoubtedly a solid ball-handler and decent scorer. Two seasons ago, Walker was a 19-point-per-game scorer, and even if he doesn’t come back the same, he will still be productive with his crafty shot-creating ability.

I expect Walker to play around 10-15 minutes and average around eight points and six assists per game. The signing is a low-risk medium-reward opportunity for the Mavericks to keep looking for that spark they need at point guard. Health was a problem during Walker’s stint with the Boston Celtics. Dallas will be hopeful that his health issues were addressed during his time unsigned.

With Jaden Hardy being recalled from the G-League, there are multiple options for coach Jason Kidd to choose from. Dallas needs more versatility on and off the ball to provide the help that Doncic needs.

“I’m just making sure I’m right, making sure I’m ready, making sure I’m ready for whenever somebody gives me that call,” and “I just know that I have the ability to help someone, to help a team. I know I can still play basketball at a high level.” Walker said during an appearance on “The Woj Pod” earlier in November.
