A new signing in Dallas

Cardiac Kemba Walker is back on an NBA team after spending a short time out of the league.

The Dallas Mavericks, who are desperately looking for more guards to score and initiate the offense, have taken a chance and signed the veteran Walker. The deal is non-guaranteed and only for one year, but with the release of Facundo Campazzo following this signing, Walker might be walking into a decent role with Dallas.

This is not Dallasโ€™s first time targeting Walker, and although he is not the all-star he once was, he is undoubtedly a solid ball-handler and decent scorer. Two seasons ago, Walker was a 19-point-per-game scorer, and even if he doesnโ€™t come back the same, he will still be productive with his crafty shot-creating ability.

I expect Walker to play around 10-15 minutes and average around eight points and six assists per game. The signing is a low-risk medium-reward opportunity for the Mavericks to keep looking for that spark they need at point guard. Health was a problem during Walkerโ€™s stint with the Boston Celtics. Dallas will be hopeful that his health issues were addressed during his time unsigned.

With Jaden Hardy being recalled from the G-League, there are multiple options for coach Jason Kidd to choose from. Dallas needs more versatility on and off the ball to provide the help that Doncic needs.

โ€œIโ€™m just making sure Iโ€™m right, making sure Iโ€™m ready, making sure Iโ€™m ready for whenever somebody gives me that call,โ€ and โ€œI just know that I have the ability to help someone, to help a team. I know I can still play basketball at a high level.โ€ Walker said during an appearance on โ€œThe Woj Podโ€ earlier in November.
