Tatum in December

So far this month, Jayson Tatum is averaging 31.9 ppg on 50.6 FG% and 40.7 3PT%. For some reason, every year Tatum decides to just explode in the month of December. In his last performance against the Bucks, he scored 42 points on 64 FG% and 54 3PT%. That was his highest scoring game of the season and the 4th highest scoring game of his career.

The regular season in the NBA stretches from October to April. Throughout the entire season, Tatum usually has his best games in December. Throughout his career, Tatum is averaging 19.8 points per game on 47.8 FG% and 38.9 3PT% in December. The only 2 months he is scoring more are February (21.3 ppg on 44.4 FG% and 39 3PT%) and April (24.4 ppg on 46.6 FG% and 41.4 3PT%). In February and April however, Tatum has played less games which makes the stats a bit deceiving. While his 3 highest scoring games have been in April, his offensive rating is second highest in December which is an estimate of points produced or scored per 100 possessions. With 8 more games this month, Tatum looks to keep the Celtics afloat especially with Jaylen Brown coming back from his hamstring injury. The next 4 games for Boston are all home against the Warriors (23-5), the Knicks (12-16), the 76ers (15-13), and the Cavaliers (17-12).
