So Conor’s not fighting in December…
What's going on with Conor?
In February 2022, Dana White announced a new "The Ultimate Fighter" series, where two teams compete to become a part of the UFC with prominent UFC fighters as their coaches. After The Ultimate Fighter competition has concluded, the two coaches face off in a fight, declaring who is the better fighter and the better coach throughout the series and fight. In February of last year, the UFC announced that "Iron" Michael Chandler would be the captain of one team. His opponent and captain of the other team would be a man who hadn't fought in almost a year before the announcement, a man who had been sidelined from action for nearly two years, a true showman of the sport. As his leg was snapped in half, he still addressed the audience and his opponent with confidence and charisma, egging on his opponent like he was ready for another five rounds. He is "The Notorious" Conor Mcgregor.
The man has been an icon of the sport ever since he entered the company. His way with the microphone, his performances, and his way with the fans make him one of the highest-grossing, most popular UFC superstars the company has ever had. However, he has been posting pictures and looking jacked during his time off! This makes fighters wonder if Conor is 100% all-natural, especially coming off a huge injury like a broken leg. This isn't a particular requirement. All fighters must be tested by the United States of America's Doping Agency to be licensed and fight. The fighter must complete six tests to show that he or she is completely clean. Once that happens, they can compete anywhere. Usually, these six tests take six months or longer, but when you have the most pay-per-view sales the company has ever seen, there are pulled strings.
During the new season of The Ultimate Fighter, we saw Mcgregor struggle to coach a winning team against Chandler almost to the point where he was one contest away from being swept and had only one fighter to compete with after the qualifying rounds. However, he was able to pick up another fighter who won the competition in the Bantamweight division. This picked up Conor's name from the gutter because most people had the interpretation that he was not a good coach.
A few weeks after the airing of "The Ultimate Fighter," Conor went to Twitter and told the world that he would be fighting in December. There are three problems with his statement. The first issue is that we still need to determine what weight class they will fight in. Both competitors have found the Lightweight Division to be their home, but with Conor returning from an injury, he wants to cut less weight. Michael Chandler is also a big Lightweight in the division and said he wouldn't mind going up to fight at 170 pounds (Welterweight). But, for some reason, people have yet to confirm or deny what weight the two will be competing at.
Another problem is that Conor called for December, where there is only one pay-per-view, and the new Bantamweight Champion "Suga" Sean O'Malley just called his shot to fight in December against Marlon "Chito" Vera, the only man who ever beaten him in the octagon. Since the news from both people broke around the same time, O'Malley told Conor that he could have the main event and he would act as the co-main. The final problem has to do with USADA itself. For some reason, Mcgregor keeps going in and out of the testing pool, prolonging his time and making it harder to get the fight done in December. This leaves people with one big question. What the hell is going on with Conor???
