FaZe Steamroll MOUZ to Win IEM Chengdu 2024

Chengdu, China (PSF) - IEM Chengdu concluded with FaZe defeating MOUZ in the Grand Final with a final series score of 2-0. FaZe has made it to every Grand Final of every tournament they have appeared in since the release of Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) already cementing them as one of the greats in CS2 in under a year’s time.

Finn β€œkarrigan” Andersen told HLTV β€œI think this is the first time in my career where I’m really drained when it comes to traveling and playing,” when talking about making seven consecutive LAN finals in a row. While FaZe have been consistently in Grand Finals for CS2, their biggest flaw is making that final jump and finishing off competitions with the team finishing second in the same amount of finals that they have finished first in. From losing to Natus Vincere at PGL Copenhagen Major to losing to Spirit at IEM Katowice 2024 and losing to Vitality at the BLAST World Final 2023.

Going back to IEM Chengdu, FaZe only had one bad series in the group stage against Astralis where they were beaten by the Danish team with a final series score of 2-0 losing both maps very badly. They would get their revenge on Astralis in the semi-finals beating them 2-1 to stamp their position in another Grand Final.

The Grand Final was underwhelming based on the games we got to watch for the Quarter and Semi-finals with only the first map being competitive on Overpass with a final score of 13-10. FaZe had its hardest struggle in their Quarter-finals series with Liquid with the first two maps being close with only the third map being one-sided with a late comeback attempt by Liquid.

FaZe’s Helvijs β€œbroky” Saukants won the HLTV MVP of the event with an average rating throughout the event of a 1.23.

After this win, FaZe look forward to the ESL Pro League Season 19 which starts in just eight days and lasts for almost a month in Malta.
