Brittany Griner Detained In Russia

Ever since the outbreak about going to war with Russia to stand by Ukraine, Americans have been on edge. Sources stated that Brittany Griner, 31 years old WNBA basketball star, has been detained and arrested in Russia. Brittany Griner has been playing overseas in Russia for quite some time. 

 On March 8, 2022 Russia’s police station had detained Brittany Griner on accounts of drug charges. Officers had checked Griner’s bag and allegedly found vape cartridges contained with a larger amount of cannabis oil. Russia officers confirmed that if Brittany Griner gets convicted she could be sentenced in Russia up to 10 years. Brittany Griner’s family and friends are all in deep sadness and shock. 

 Brittany Griners wife, Cherelle Griner, made a post on Instagram stating “We love you babe! People say "stay busy." Yet, there's not a task in this world that could keep any of us from worrying about you. My heart, our hearts, are all skipping beats everyday that goes by. I miss your voice. I miss your presence. You're our person! There are no words to express this pain. I'm hurting, we're hurting. We await the day to love on you as a family.” With a family picture to go with it. 

The invasion with Russia vs. the United States of America and Ukraine has not gone lightly. We as Americans hope that Brittany Griner gets safety back into the United States.
