The Minnesota Twins are reportedly exploring a trade for catcher Christian Vazquez, according to Robert Murray of FanSided. Murray's report, shared during his appearance on Foul Territory Wednesday, indicates the Twins' aim to reduce payroll by offloading certain players.

This would make sense for the Twins as Vazquez is under contract until 2025; potential landing spots for the veteran catcher have emerged, the San Diego Padres, who expressed strong interest during his free agency last year. Furthermore, the Miami Marlins are currently seeking a catcher, and several other teams are also in the market for a veteran catcher.

At 33, Vazquez has been a reliable veteran catcher, offering solid defense, usually serving as an experienced backup, and bringing leadership to whichever club he is on.

The Twins are navigating the offseason following the strong 2023 season, as they were the AL Central Champions this past year. Their primary focus should be to reduce payroll while still strengthening their roster.
