Twins’ Alex Kirilloff Named AL Player of the Week
Minnesota Twins first baseman//outfielder Alex Kirilloff was named the AL Player of the Week for his exemplary performance spanning last week. This is his first Player of the Week award.
Kirilloff, 25, hit .345 with three home runs and 10 RBI’s over seven games last week. During that stretch, the Twins won five of seven. On Sunday, Kirilloff came in clutch for the surging Twins in the bottom of the ninth with an equalizing RBI double against the division rival Chicago White Sox. The Twins would rally in twelve innings, winning 5-4.
Kirilloff has injected much-needed offense for Minnesota as of late, batting .311/.377/.623 with 19 hits and 10 extra-base hits in July.
The Twins are on a four-game winning streak and have won nine of their last eleven. The Twins will host the Mariners tonight at Target Field in the second game of a three-game series.
