Marcelo Mayer Selected To 2023 All-Star Futures Game

Prized prospect of the Boston Red Sox, Marcelo Mayer, has been selected to the 2023 Futures All-Star Game. Drafted fourth overall in 2021 by Boston, Mayer is currently ranked as the fifth best prospect in the MLB’s top 100 prospects list. Mayer will be accompanied by two other Red Sox prospects, Shane Drohan and Nick Yorke.

Mayer started off the season in High-A with the Greenville Drive before being called up to Double-A in late May for the Portland Sea Dogs. Between the two leagues, Mayer is batting .250 through 56 games with 12 home runs and 47 runs batted in. At the age of 20, Mayer is the top ranked prospect for the Red Sox. With Rafael Devers and Triston Casas already in the MLB, the future of Boston’s infield is looking very bright.
