Right before Super Bowl 57, Derek Jeter, a very well known, respected name in the Major League Baseball world has been announced as a new MLB analyst for Fox Sports. Jeter, the former New York Yankee’s 15th captain, retired the September after the 2014 season. Jeter had been a long time Yankees player since 1995 all the way up until the end of his career. He was very well known for his skills on the field as #2, which is now one of the Yankees retired jersey numbers. When Jeter retired back in 2014 he finished with a total of 3,464 hits, the sixth highest amount of this in the MLB history.

After 20 seasons with the Yankees, Jeter decided to become part owner in the Miami Marlins but then left the organization in 2022. Although, Jeter has not expressed much interest in being a broadcaster or analyst, he has apparently been more involved with the media and has been a broadcasting free agent since then. For the 2023 MLB season, Jeter will be joining the Fox studio team along side Alex Rodriguez, a former Yankee’s teammate for ten seasons.

It will be interesting to see Jeter’s take on the game from more of an outside perspective. Jeter was not always known to be the most exciting interviewee while he was playing for the Yankees. Hopefully he will be able to bring more to the table, commentary wise, since he is no longer playing.
