2 Dodger Prospects to Look Out For

1. Bobby Miller

Bobby Miller is the Dodgers’ top pitching prospect and the number 2 overall prospect in their system. Miller has a great frame sitting at 6’5 220lbs. Miller’s pitch arsenal consists of a 4-seam, 2-seam, Slider, Curve, and a Change-Up. Miller has a fastball that sits 94-96, topping out at 99, he also has an elite two-seamer that dives away from batters. He also throws a sharp mid-80-s slider along with a curveball that sits in the low-80s. And finally his Change-Up which tails and dives away from batters. Miller spent most of his 2021 in High-A wherein 47 innings he pitched to the tune of a 1.91 ERA with a 10.72 K/9, and a 2.11 BB/9, with an astounding 0.19 HR/9. He was put on the IR and July 23 which is why he only threw 47 innings. Miller is very comparable to Walker Buehler. Blue Glove, tight pants, similar pitch mix, and my favorite thing about him is the energy he brings to the mound. He pitches with confidence and is not afraid to show emotion. You can expect to see Miller debut in late 2022 or 2023.

2. Diego Cartaya

Diego Cartaya is the top prospect in the Dodgers system and the number 28 prospect in MLB. Cartaya is 20 years old, and a catcher. He is 6’3 220. Cartaya only played 31 games last year due to back issues, but in those 31 games, he slashed .298/.409/.614. He had a 13.1 BB%, and a 27.0 K%. So I would like to see him cut down on strikeouts, but overall he is a very polished hitting prospect. Cartaya has had his struggles on the defensive side of the ball, allowing 11 past balls in only 31 games, He also only threw 7/35 runners out on the base paths. But it has been said from the Dodgers system that they have seen major improvements from him on defense. He has been compared to Salvador Perez. But I believe if he can improve his defense he has a chance to be better. You can expect to see Cartaya in late 2023.
