What could go wrong in a week?

Salah looks away in despair after missing crucial penalty (Sky Sports)

A week ago today, Liverpool fans were in fantasyland after beating rivals Manchester United 7-0 in an instant classic. Flash forward to today, and Liverpool fans are shaking their heads, wondering when this disappointing season will end.

This 1-0 defeat to relegation zone Bournemouth leaves fans scratching their heads after scoring seven the week before. To even add to the spoils in the reverse fixture against Bournemouth, Liverpool thrashed them 9-0. This reveals the attacking potential this Liverpool squad has, but they seem unable to put it together consistently.

Players like Mo Salah and Firmino, who have lit the Premier League on fire in recent years, sometimes seem to lack confidence. The lack of confidence was apparent vs. Bournemouth, with Salah missing the net entirely from the penalty spot.

Kovacic and Kai Havertz celebrating (Sky Sports)

On the flip side a week has been glorious for the boys in blue. Potter went from being on the hot seat to gaining praise. Chelsea gained a crucial victory over Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund who have not lost a game this year until facing the blues at Stamford Bridge. They rounded off the week by going away from home to beat Leicester City comfortably three to one with an electric display. New signing Enzo Fernandez showed his class with an array of amazing passes including an outrageous chip assist to Havertz who finished nicely. Is this the week Chelsea needed to regain their form for a late push for Europe and to the next round of the Champions League?
