WELLINGTON, New Zealand - The quarterfinals of the Women’s World Cup have passed, giving us tight games, game-changers, and shocking exits. A few players and moments stood out from the rest.

Best Player - Mackenzie Arnold (Australia)

She may have missed her penalty in the shootout, but without Arnold, it is unlikely Australia would have won the game in penalties. She made several reactive saves throughout the game, most notably to deny Selma Bacha in extra time to keep Australia in it. Then, in the penalty shootout, she made three saves to play a big part in Australia’s victory.

Best Goal - Leicy Santos vs. England

There were quite a few incredible goals in the quarter-finals, but perhaps the most stunning was Santos’ goal against England. Santos did well to keep the ball close before lofting the ball over goalkeeper Mary Earps’ outstretched hand.

Best Team - Sweden

Sweden may have had some lucky moments in their win against Japan, but they managed to hold Japan to only one goal throughout ninety minutes. Sweden made the most of their chances and because of that, are going to the semi-finals.

Best Match - Spain 2-1 Netherlands

This match had a little bit of everything: a controversial call, a stoppage time equalizer and an extra time winner. Although this game might not have had a lot of goals, it certainly lived up to expectations with both teams being evenly matched throughout the game.

Biggest Upcoming Match - Spain versus Sweden

It was a tough debate between Spain versus Sweden and Australia versus England, but what it came down to was the matchup. This game will pit Spain, a side that has seemingly overcome their 4-0 defeat to Japan in the group stage, against Sweden, a side that has defeated both the United States and Japan. Both sides are hitting their top form and are capable of producing a result in this game. Be sure to tune in to this game on Tuesday at 4:00 a.m. EDT.
