Milan won the Serie A title on Sunday evening, defeating Sassuolo 0-3 and maintaining a two-point advantage over Inter.
It’s the 19th Scudetto for the Rossoneri, whose last victory was dated eleven years ago.
Milan initially had two possible results out of three to raise the trophy, since the second team in the league, Inter, had a two-point gap to fill.
Milan had already secured the title in the first half of the game, being already three goals ahead of Sassuolo.
Rafael Leao, one of the absolute protagonists of the season, assisted Oliver Giroud twice and Franck Kessié.
Milan’s victory at the Mapei Stadium vanished Inter’s efforts, which ended the season with a 3-0 victory over Sampdoria.
Milan has now reached Inter as the second most winning team in the Serie A history.
Both the teams are preceded by Juventus.
Thousands of supporters pacifically invaded the Mapei Stadium following the final whistle, while many others gathered around Piazza Duomo in Milan.
The celebrations went on until late night, when the team eventually arrived in the city.
A curious episode took place right after the match. Someone took advantage of the chaos created by the invasion and stole coach Stefano Pioli’s celebratory medal.
“I’d like to have it back,” he declared.
“It’s my first one…” he added.
Hopefully, for him, the first of many.
