Lights, Camera, Jackson: Nicolas Jackson propels Chelsea to London Derby Victory
Chelsea traveled to London Stadium to take on West Ham. The Blues hammered the hammers with a 3-0 win behind goals from Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer.
After Chelseaβs win last weekend against Bournemouth, most of the Chelsea fanbase was clamoring for Christopher Nkunku to start this weekend over Nicolas Jackson. The Frenchman had scored an 85th minute winner to seal the three point against the Cherries. Nicolas Jackson heard all of the criticism this week and took it personally. The Senegalese striker netted two goals for the blues, solidifying the trust given to him by Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca.
The Blues led the Hammers at the half 2-0 and once both teams came out of the tunnel for the second half nothing changed. Shortly after the second half began, Chelsea went on the counter, with Cole Palmer finishing off a pass from Jackson. The PFA Young Player of the Year netted his second goal of the Premier League season, penciling in all three points for Chelsea.
As for the Hammers, things have been sour at the beginning of the Premier League season as Julian Lopetegui unfortunately set a new record for the London club. This is the first time ever in the clubβs history that theyβve lost their first three home games in a season. Granted the Hammers have had to play tough competition in Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Chelsea. Despite the tough schedule, Lopetegui will start to feel the pressure because of the sky high expectations for the Hammers following an expensive and busy summer transfer window.
On the other hand, this occasion marks a third consecutive away win in the Premier League for Chelsea. Enzo Maresca will have plenty to smile about as his attackers are firing on all cylinders, and this is the second clean sheet in a row for the Blues. Chelsea will travel back home to Stamford Bridge and take on Brighton next week.
