are barcelona’s new transfers the first step to redemption?

Everyone remembers Barcelona’s successful tenure. Their trophy cabinet remained filled constantly. Years passed, players left, and other teams began to improve and Barcelona’s performance began to decline. Not qualifying for the Champions League last season was a very low point for the club. With Xavi as their manager, things are looking hopeful. Over the past 2 weeks, a couple of new signings were made.

One of the signings were of Franck Yannick Kessie. The player arrived as a free agent after this spell with AC Milan. The Ivorian player is a strong midfielder with great tactical awareness and is believed to be the complete package. His team at AC Milan proved his talent and abilities. Having incredible statistics as a goalscorer, he could a good replacement for some of the older players on the team.

Barcelona managed to also sign defender, Andreas Bødtker Christensen. His contract with Chelsea just came to end and his new contract with Barcelona will last for 4 years. The Danish player has always wanted to play for the club as a little boy which means he already has a lot of passion and respect for the club. Christensen is a very strong and tall defender making him dominant in the air. He is proficient with the ball at his feet as well which makes him a perfect fit for the Barcelona style of play. He also seems to be a replacement for other older players in the club.

Another deal that is almost confirmed for the club is that of the Brazilian attacker, Raphinha. The Catalans have offered 58 million euros to Leeds United for him but the price could get higher. This could be Barcelona’s third summer signing with speculation of Robert Lewandowski arriving as well.
