LONDON, U.K. - Signed over the summer from Empoli, Guglielmo Vicario has a massive task ahead of him: replacing long-time captain Hugo Lloris. This task would not be easy, but Vicario has had a bright start to life for Tottenham.

Here’s a look at Vicario’s numbers this season:

  • Average of one goal conceded per 90 minutes (tied for fifth least in the Premier League)

  • Three clean sheets (tied for the second most in the Premier League)

  • Has made the second most saves of “Big Six” goalkeepers (28)

  • Has the highest save percentage in the Premier League (82.9 percent)

Although Vicario has only played eight Premier League games, he is showing signs that he can be Tottenham’s new number one. So far this season, Tottenham have already improved their number of goals conceded (ten to eight) and points tally (17 to 20) from last season (keep in mind that all Premier League matchday seven games last season were moved due to Queen Elizabeth II’s passing). While Vicario is not the only reason these numbers improved, he played a part.

With Vicario, Tottenham have a goalkeeper that can be their number one for many years. At 27-years-old, he is still in his prime and can be a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.
