French International heating up in Liga Mx

This year’s Liga Mx season is already seven weeks in and no one has had a better showing in their last five games than Tigres UANL. Led by former Club America and Mexico manager Miguel "Piojo" Herrera, Tigres have now won five straight and sit-tied for second in the table. Much of their success can be credited to their all-time leading goal scorer and French international striker, André Pierre Gignac.

The ex-Olympique de Marseille player joined Tigres in 2015 and has not looked back. Since joining the Liga Mx club, he has helped them win four league titles, a CONCACAF Champions League, and a Campeones Cup. “El bomboro” as they call him in Mexico, helped Tigres reach their first-ever Club World Cup Final in 2020, but came up short against European giants Bayern Munich. Tigres was the first-ever Concacaf and Mexican team to reach the final.

Winning titles is not the only thing Gignac does. He actively stays on the score sheet as he has been the top goal scorer in the 15/16 and 18/19 Liga Mx season. He also achieved this in the Concacaf champions league and the Club World Cup tournament.

This season has not been short of success for Tigres as they have won 5 straight games since starting the season with a draw against Santos Laguna, who currently sits in last place, and a 2-0 loss at home against current leaders Puebla. In these five games, Andre Pierre Gignac has been showing up for his club. He's been able to record a goal in all five matches, including two in this past week's match-up against FC Juarez where he had two in the first half. This incredible start has the Tigres striker tied for the league's leading goal scorer spot through 7 games and makes the team an early contender for the title.
