NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, U.K - The past weekend saw one of the biggest victories in Premier League history occur as Newcastle smashed Sheffield United 8-0. Where does this victory rank among the biggest victory margins in the past ten years? Let’s find out! This ranking is courtesy of transfermarkt.us.
=7. Crystal Palace 0-7 Liverpool
Starting off in London, we have Liverpool dominating Crystal Palace behind closed doors. Liverpool got started in the third minute and never let up, scoring three goals before half-time before adding another four in the second half. Liverpool would go on to win their first Premier League title in thirty years and Crystal Palace would go on to finish in 14th place.
=7. Chelsea 7-0 Norwich City
Another 7-0 victory in this spot as Chelsea had a bright start in the 2021/22 season. Mason Mount got a hat-trick as Norwich were reduced to ten men in the second half. Chelsea would go on to qualify for the Champions League, finishing in third place, and Norwich were relegated after finishing in 20th place.
=7. Manchester City 7-0 Leeds
Many wondered if this game would be a high-scoring game since both managers play an attacking brand of soccer. Well, it would be just only a one-sided scoring affair. Manchester City would inflict misery on Leeds with Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Kevin de Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, John Stones and Nathan Aké all scoring. Fortunately, Leeds would go on to survive and Manchester City would go on to win their second straight Premier League title.
=7. Liverpool 7-0 Manchester United
Perhaps the most dominant victory between two “Big Six” sides, this game did not start with goals early. It wasn’t until the second half that the goals started to flow as Liverpool would go on to score six goals in the second half. Unfortunately, this victory did not result in Champions League qualification for Liverpool as they finished in seventh place. On the other hand, Manchester United would go on to qualify for the Champions League, finishing in third place.
=4. Southampton 8-0 Sunderland
The oldest result in this list, this game was between two clubs that are not in the Premier League this season. Sunderland would concede three own goals in this game. Both clubs would remain in the Premier League at the end of the season as Southampton finished in seventh place and Sunderland finished in 16th.
=4. Manchester City 8-0 Watford
Another entry with Manchester City on the positive side, this time against the Hornets. Bernardo Silva would score a hat trick as Manchester City would steamroll Watford. Manchester City would go on to finish in second place as Watford would be relegated after finishing in 19th.
=4. Newcastle 8-0 Sheffield United
The game from this weekend, Newcastle would respond to their slight slump by having eight different scorers. Kieran Trippier would provide a hat trick of assists. Hopefully Sheffield can overcome this crushing defeat and remain in the Premier League next season.
=1. Southampton 0-9 Leicester City
Making a return on this list, this time on the opposite side, is Southampton. Southampton were up against it early as Ryan Bertrand was sent off in only the 12th minute. The Foxes would take advantage, scoring five before half-time before adding another four in the second half. Leicester City would go on to qualify for the Europa League, finishing in fifth place. The Saints would go on to finish in 11th.
=1. Manchester United 9-0 Southampton
Another 9-0 defeat for Southampton, this time a season later against Manchester United. A dismissal also occurred for Southampton in this game, this time even earlier in the second minute. Once again, the Saints would unravel, going on to concede another nine goals. Fortunately, Southampton would go on to finish in 15th place, securing their place in the Premier League for the 2021/22 season. Manchester United would go on to finish in second place behind rivals Manchester City.

There were no red cards in this game, just a lot of goals. Liverpool started right after the first whistle, scoring two goals within the first six minutes. The Reds would cruise, heading into halftime with a 5-0 lead. Liverpool would go on to finish in fifth place, while Bournemouth would survive, finishing in 15th place.
