Arsenal and Liverpool draw 2-2
In a game that had major title implications Arsenal drew 2-2 with Liverpool at Anfield. A game that was a potential game of the season it had everything but red cards. The result tightens the already extremely close title race between Arsenal and Manchester City.
Arsenal jumped right out of the gate with a goal from Brazilian star Gabriel Martinelli in the 8th minute. This was followed up by Gabriel Jesus scoring just 20 minutes later. Jesus was bound to score on Easter Sunday.
Liverpool answered back right before halftime after a scrum between Granit Xhaka and Trent Alexander-Arnold that sparked the crowd. Mohamad Salah found the back of the net after a fortunate bounce.
Liverpool dominated the second half as Arsenal defended for their lives. Mo Salah missed the net on a penalty that was given away by Rob Holding. Liverpool finally were able to beat Aaron Ramsdale with a cross to Bobby Firmino that he headed into the empty net.
Arsenal now leads the Premier League by six points, but Manchester City has a game in hand. It is a bit upsetting for Arsenal as they had a 2-0 lead but the gained point still grants Arsenal their own fate. The title may be decided on April 26th when the two challengers face off as long as no team drops points in between that game. Arsenal will have to earn their potential championship as they will have to beat the defending title champions.
