The Beast of the Metro

It seems like the Flyers are off to a surprising start. Currently ranked number one in the Metropolitan Division going 3-1-0, the Flyers have a +4 ranking, which was not how experts called them out to start the season. With Sean Couturier feeling himself with two assists and a penalty shot goal in his last two games, the Flyers might be on the right track. I was a little skeptical at first, but with Cam Atkinson with three goals on the season and two alone in his last game, he has also surprised a number of doubters.

Marc Staal has shown an impressive defensive game and so has Sean Walker, with his one shorthanded goal in the game against Edmonton. According to the current NHL power rankings, the Flyers are seated at number 31, just right in front of the Sharks. I think this ranking is due to the fact that the Flyers are in the middle of a rigorous rebuild, but I wouldn’t count them out just yet. With two stellar performances from two knock-out teams in the NHL, the Flyers have proven what Jason Kelce has been preaching his entire time with the Eagles . . . “hungry dogs run faster.”
