On Saturday night, October 22nd 2022, the Washington Capitals faced the Los Angeles Kings at the Capital One Arena. The Capitals started the third period down 2-0.

Things weren’t looking too well for the Capitals yesterday during the first period of the game, ending the first period 0-0. Things worsened during the second period after a two minute penalty was given to Evgeny Kuznetsov for high-sticking Adrian Kempe, then later on, ending the second period 2-0.

Things started picking up in the third period. The first goal of the night was made three minutes into the game by Nic Dowd off Nick Jensen's assist. The second goal was made four minutes into the game by John Carlson, assisted by Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov, which brought the Capitals to a tie with the Kings at 2-2. Lars Eller made the third goal of the night, assisted by Orlov and John Carlson. This got the Caps ahead of the Kings, for a short period though, before Kings’ player Viktor Arvidsson was assisted by Trevor Moore scored with 9:30 left on the clock tying the game at three a piece. Marcus Johansson scored the game-winning goal, with an assist from Orlov and T.J. Oshie, with 5:25 remaining on the clock.

The capitals have had a rough start to the season by losing their season-opener against the Boston Bruins. Then again, losing game two against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and having the same fate in game five against the Ottawa Senators. All after just winning game three against Montreal Canadiens and game four against the Vancouver Canucks. Saturday night’s game brings the Washington Capitals to 3-3 early on in the season. The Capitals have been able to hold their own at home, though, by winning three straight home games without forwards Nicklas Backstrom and Tom Wilson, and even last week’s loss of winger Connor Brown.
