Stadium Series Recap
This past weekend was the 2024 Stadium Series. Both Saturday’s and Sunday’s games were action packed. Starting with the New Jersey Devils and the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday with a high scoring game. Nico Hischier had two goals and an assist, Nathan Bastian scored twice, Nico Daws made 45 saves, and the Devils ended the game defeated the Flyers 6-3. There was 70,328 fans in attendance. The Devils are only 5 points behind the Flyers in the Metropolitan Division so it was going to be a close game going in and it ended up being a great game.
The Devils were very happy about their win:
"That's a win that brings the group together," Hischier said. "Everybody had this circled on the calendar. We knew it was a big game already in the beginning of the year and how the standings are it was even a bigger game. This can bring the group together."
Moving on to the New York Rangers and New York Islanders game on Sunday. After the delay of the game from the glare on the ice, the game started with the Islanders dominating. The Rangers ended up scoring twice in the final 4:08 and then scored 10 seconds into the overtime to win it.
Panarin who scored the game winner came out and said:
"Honestly, I don't remember that goal very well at this point just because I got flooded with a wave of emotions, excitement," Panarin said. "... The atmosphere was just exactly what we needed to secure that win."
The Rangers were thrilled to have this win and are now undefeated in outdoor games.
"This is a game we've been looking forward to," Zibanejad said. "The atmosphere was incredible and to win in the way we did was incredible. ... This is definitely on top of my list of experiences as games and memories I will take with me forever."
