Shutout for Igor Shesterkin

On Monday Feb. 12, the New York Rangers defeated the Calgary Flames 2-0 and picked up their 5th consecutive win. It was rather a good night for Igor Shesterkin as he stopped 30 shots for his first shutout of the season.

This was an important night for the Rangers, but it wasvmore importantly for Shesterkin because he hasn’t been playing to the best of his ability. He has struggled all season and many people, specifically the fans, have been worried that Shesterkin had lost his touch.

β€œHonestly, I felt great all night, from the starting faceoff until the end. It was an important night for me – important shutout. I appreciate what the guys did today, there was a lot of big block shots, smart plays,” Shesterkin said postgame.

This could be the breakout game he and the team have been looking for since he returned from an injury last November. The shutout was Shesterkin’s 12th of his career and first since a 4-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets in April 2023. Additionally, he earned his 21st win and earned points in four of his last five starts.
