Ryan Pulock Returns

As we know the New York Islanders recently hired a new head coach to help them turn their season around. There are a few other key details that are helping them get that ball rolling. Ryan Pulock was just brought back from long term injury reserve. He had an injury on Dec. 7 against the Columbus Blue Jackets and missed 24 games before last Sunday’s practice.

Adam Pelech may also be making a return very soon after skating in Sunday’s practice. Ryan Pulock was activated off the long-term injured reserve, in a major boost to the Islanders. To facilitate Pulock’s $6.15 million salary coming off the long-term injury reserve, the Islanders moved Casey Cizikas (upper body) and Robert Bortuzzo (lower body) to the long-term injured reserve. When all of the Islanders are healthy, they will have to do some maneuvering with the salary cap.

Islanders coach Patrick Roy told reporters Sunday, “If we drop their ice time to 20, 25 minutes and we increase those [of Pelech and Pulock, I think it’s gonna be better. And I think they’re not gonna be as tired going on the ice and I think that’s gonna help our team tremendously.”

“It was good to have Noah and Rommy get a lot of ice time, I think it helped in their development. But right now having those two guys back, playing against top lines as well, I think makes our team better.”

They even won their game last night against the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2. It is looking like there is light at the end of the tunnel for the Islanders and maybe they are turning over a new leaf for this season.
