New York Rangers Win Presidents Trophy
The New York Rangers have taken home the Presidents Trophy once again. They captured the trophy in a 4-0 win against the Ottawa Senators. It is only the third time in Ranger history that they have won the trophy. They have won it for the first time in nine seasons.
The Rangers won the Presidents Trophy in the 1991-92 season and then went on to lose in the division finals. Then in the 1993-94 season the Rangers went on to win the Stanley Cup that year. Finally the Rangers won it in the 2014-15 season and lost in the conference finals. The Rangers have done it again and won the trophy this year and it will be interesting to see how far they go.
The Rangers have had a great run this year with a record of 55-23-4 and 114 points. The Garden will be buzzing this playoff season between the Rangers and the Knicks both on fire. The Knicks first post-season game is on Saturday April 20 and the Rangers first post-season game is to be determined.
Fun fact: The Trophy has been awarded 36 times, but only eight of the winners have gone on to win the Stanley Cup in their respective years, leading to a popular superstition that the Trophy may be cursed.
