New Era, New Face

The Flyers organization has been putting a lot of emphasis in recent years on the most veteran players. Even their marketing department has been marketing the vets like crazy, trying to get fans to pick their new favorite. What we saw through this was, eventually, an unhappy and frustrated fan base. What we are seeing now, through the organization and their marketing, is a heavy push on the younger and rookie stars. Owen Tippett seems to be the new face of the rebuild they have been advertising all summer. You see him on billboards, social media and buses around Philadelphia. This would make sense because Owen Tippett continues to make consistent improvement, and shows immense promise. Last season, he put up 49 points in 77 games played. He also received his first career hat trick ever in the NHL with the Flyers last season. While I don’t think these stats are the best there are, I do think it is proof that within time, Owen Tippett can be one of the best players this franchise has ever seen.  Steve Coates said it best, “With Owen Tippett there are only 3 speeds . . . Fast, Faster, and Fastest.”
