Frustrated Oilers Fans Litter The ICe

After a game 1 OT loss to the LA Kings, Oilers fans threw beer cans and trash onto the ice

ROGERS PLACE —— Game one of round one between the Edmonton Oilers and the LA Kings ended in a 4-3 OT win for the LA Kings.

The Oilers finished second in the Pacific Division, giving them the home ice advantage over the LA Kings who finished third in the Pacific Division.

The Oilers were leading by two goals, but with 15 seconds left in the third period, the Kings’ Anze Kopitar tied the game.

In overtime, Oilers’ Vincent Desharnais was issued a tripping penalty, which ultimately cost them the game.

The Kings’ Alex Lafallo scored the overtime goal and secured a win for the Kings.

Oilers fans were not pleased with the results of the game. Fans began throwing beer cans, pompoms, and other trash onto the ice.

The actions of the fans could cost the Oilers a bench minor penalty. Item 63.4 of the NHL rule book states that objects thrown onto the ice during play or stoppage time could result in a bench minor penalty for the home team.
