A Blackhawks Fan’s Reaction to the Win Against the Penguins

In just one game, rookie center Connor Bedard made his impact on the Chicago Blackhawks, the city of Chicago, and the NHL media. The Chicago Blackhawks defeated center Sidney Crosby and the Penguins in their first game of the season. They were originally down 2-1 by the end of the second period. The team went on to score three unanswered goals to defeat the Penguins 4-1.

Bedard, in his first official NHL action, had five shots on goal for the game, as well as his first career assist. That also gave him his first career point.

The four goals for the Chicago Blackhawks were scored by center Jason Dickinson, left winger Nick Foligno, center Ryan Donato, and center Cole Guttman. The only ones who scored for the Penguins were Crosby and right winger Bryan Rust.

The Blackhawks are 1-0-0 to start off the new era with a bang. There are plenty more games to come and Bedard will have a career for the ages. I’m excited to watch Blackhawks games for the first time in years.

The defense needs some work here and there, but it is a good sign that they were able to comeback from a 2-1 deficit against the dynasty that is the Penguins. Hopefully, though, they don’t need to rely on comebacks and can actually have a lead early on in games this season.

The Blackhawks next play the Boston Bruins tonight at 6:30 pm on the road. Can’t wait to see Bedard hopefully score his first goal.
