LA Kings center Quinton Byfield has signed a new contract, that will keep him in Los Angeles for at least the next five years. A five-year extension, worth $31.25 million, with an average annual value of $6.25 million. The 21 year old forward was drafted 2nd overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and recorded 20 goals and 55 points in 80 games played this past season.

While a long-term deal may have been preferred for the Kings camp, but saved themselves some money with a mid-length bridge deal. The young forward still has strides to take in his development and guarantees he will be on the ice for training camp on day 1.

Is this a good deal? Lets see how Byfield and his new contract stacks up against the top-10 picks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
