Bruins and Jake DeBrusk continue hot stretch
The Bruins continue their west coast road trip with a 7-0 victory over the LA Kings. Three goals scored by Jake Debrusk. Two goals from Erik Haula. One goal from Patrice Bergeron, Taylor Hall and a shutout by Jeremy Swayman. The Bruins moved onto the LA Kings on their West Coast trip by dismantling the LA Kings who never really had a chance tonight as DeBrusk opened the scoring 61 seconds into the game and continued to score his three total goals before the second period ended.
What does this hot streak mean for DeBrusk?
The Bruins should still trade DeBrusk to better upgrade this team. Don Sweeny needs to make a change, we have seen this the last two years from DeBrusk. Each of the last two years DeBrusks name had been thrown around in trade rumors and he answered those rumors by performing really well up until the trade deadline. Well, it's the same story again this year, DeBrusk requested a trade, the trade deadline is looming and Jake DeBrusk is red hot. The Bruins and Sweeny canβt fall for this once again, the roster needs an upgrade to compete in the spring. I personally hope that Iβm wrong about DeBrusk and if he does in fact stay with the Bruins that he can continue his strong play but I donβt see things shaking out that way, the Bruins need to sell high on DeBrusk.
Possible Trade Targets:
There are plenty of options for the Bruins to choose from, on the offensive side:
Tomas Hertl of the San Jose Sharks, J.T. Miller of the Canucks, Filip Forseberg of Nashville, Phil Kessel from Arizona, another potential reunion that has been thrown around is Milan Lucic the last name that I saw thrown around has been Andrew Copp of Winnipeg
On the defensive side there aren't as many options but some name being thrown around are:
Ben Chiarot of Montreal, Calvin de Haan of Chicago, Carsen Soucy and Mark Giordano of Seattle, Jakob Chychrun of Arizona and lastly one person I would love to see back in the black and gold, Zdeno Chara. I donβt know how much Chara can help this team but he shouldnβt have ever left in the first place.
The Net is Jeremy Swaymans to Lose:
Jeremy Swayman has proven over the stretch that he is the goalie of the Bruins future after Tuukka Rask retired in the middle of the season after failing to recover from hip surgery. As Linus Ullmark has struggled slightly the last few weeks Jeremy Swayman has taken the opportunity and ran with it. The net should be his for the remainder of the season and the playoffs as he has proved he is ready to be the guy in net for the Bruins.
The next coming weeks should be interesting for the Bruins as there are moves that this team needs to make to better themselves for the postseason. It's all or nothing for this core as the end is near for Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and company. The Bruins need to go all in and try to win a cup again with Bergeron, he deserves it.
