Zach vs Mac Round 2

The New York Jets are coming off their bye week and will travel to Foxborough this Sunday for their second matchup with Mac Jones and The New England Patriots. Their first meeting was somewhat of a nightmare for Jet fans as Zach Wilson threw 4 ugly interceptions in his home opener and the Jets ended up losing 25-6. That was the Patriot's 11th straight win against the Jets and they look to make it 12 on Sunday. For the Jets to snap that embarrassing losing streak they will need to do what they do best: get after the quarterback. One of the brighter spots on this 1-4 Jet team is their defense. They rank in the top 10 of both pressure rate (2nd) and QB hits (8th). Jones has looked impressive thus far and certainly looks the part but he’s still a rookie. If the Jets can fluster him early he will make mistakes. Offensively speaking, the Jets need to establish something on their first drive whether it be getting the run game going with rookie Micheal Carter or allowing Wilson to get into a rhythm early with some intermediate throws.

The Jets offensive line also has to show up. They rank 26th in the league with 18 sacks allowed so the offensive struggles haven’t all been on Wilson. The Patriots are also coming off a game where they allowed 400 yards to the high-powered Dallas Cowboys offense so there are certainly some holes that the Jets could expose.

The Jets aren’t fighting for a championship or even a playoff spot this year so the expectations are low for them going into every game. I think I speak for all Jet fans when I say beating the Patriots on their home field will bring much-needed joy and hope to the fanbase and the organization.
