Zach Ertz Sees Red

During the offeseaon, there were lots of talks of Zach Ertz being traded due to contract and money issues. I know for me, hearing all of the talks about Ertz getting traded and that he was “money hungry” was very shocking and was honestly a little upsetting. Zach Ertz was always one of the players that constantly spoke about how much he loved this team and this city, plus he has always been such a pivotal player on the team and was a huge reason we made it to and won Super Bowl 52, so when all of the rumors started I didn’t think much of them. The rumors eventually began to die off a little bit once Zach talked during a postgame interview saying how his ankle injury he suffered last season was very debilitating for him at times and made things difficult, but overall Philly is where he wants to be no matter what. To me, it just sounds like his own mental health was getting in his way and in a sense, led him to be traded. Zach Ertz is now a tight end for the Arizona Cardinals and in exchange the Eagles received rookie cornerback Tay Gowan, and a 2022 5th round draft pick. Overall, as much as I hate losing Ertz, I feel it was a pretty decent trade. The Eagles secondary has been a problem for a while now so if Gowan can help out then that would be amazing, and receiving another draft pick will allow us to help build our team for the future; plus we have Dallas Goedert who is a really great tight end. Ertz is honestly probably a bit better off being out of Philly as well since he is now playing for the only undefeated team left in the league. I wish Zach Ertz all the best in Arizona and I hope he has the chance to shine there just like he did in Philadelphia.
