Bears Fire Running Backs Coach David Walker
The Chicago Bears have been a disaster in 2023. This starts with their coach staff. Everyone knows that defensive coordinator Alan Williams resigned two weeks into the season. But, as of Nov. 1, running backs coach David Walker has been fired as reported by Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic.
On the surface this firing is confusing since the Bears running game has been great the past two seasons. However, his firing was not performance related. Instead, according to Courtney Cronin, Walker was fired for poor workplace behavior. Having to have human resources step in and fix two coach situations in one season is not good.
It was originally unclear who would take over as running backs coach since the Bears did not have an assistant running backs coach on staff. However, head coach Matt Eberflus told the media that assistant quarterback and wide receiver coach Omar Young will be coaching the running backs now.
