Will the Philadelphia Eagles make the Kelly Green Jersey’s an Annual Thing?

Can the Philadelphia Eagles start making the Kelly Greens an annual thing? It has been thirteen years since we have seen Kelly Green's comeback as a throwback uniform for the Eagles. They were clean, they were crisp and they brought life into a Philadelphia crowd that did not need any extra juice for their fanbase. However, that is what those jerseys offered and hopefully we get to see more of that in years to come at the Linc. So this led me to question why can’t Jeffrey Lurie and the front office decide to allow this to be an annual one game throwback? I know that I would prefer to see one less all black jersey for a kelly green game.

The NFL has since lifted the ban of using secondary helmets in lue of citing that it would be a safety issue to allow teams to use secondary helmets. Jeffrey Lurie was one of the heads of the call for the unban of the use of secondary helmets. Now teams are only permitted to use the secondary helmets for one game during the season. So that means if the Eagles break out the kelly green’s they will have to use the midnight green helmets for the all black uniforms. In my opinion I barely notice the difference between the midnight green helmets with the all-black. Unless you are really trying to nitpick it is not that big of a difference. Sure it is really neat to see the black helmets but is it really that big of a deal?

The players were really excited to have Kelly green’s on as well. There is only player that ever played in those kelly green jerseys on this roster and that is Brandon Graham. So it was really special to see them back in those uniforms and especially against a team like the Miami Dolphins that also added some extra juice into the game with a fellow 5-1 team coming into the Linc and the game being played on Sunday Night Football.

So that brings us back to the original question: will the Eagles make this an annual thing? My answer is yes. With all of the jersey sales that the Eagles were able to make off of these jerseys there is no doubt they will make this something that they do each season. Now do we have a jersey controversy brewing if they do this? Will fans start to call for the ax to the midnight green’s? Because there are plenty of Eagles fans that are nostalgic that would enjoy seeing Kelly green’s comeback as the main jersey for the Eagles, and while Lurie may be a little hesitant for that reason the rebuttal to that is there will always be nostalgic fans but there were people already calling for that when the jerseys were dormant for thirteen years. So now it is up to Jeffery Lurie to make the decision if the Eagles will bring this combination back.
