Will The Bills Return to the Post Season?
The NFL season kicked off with an exciting opener between the Buffalo Bills and the defending Super Bowl LVI Champions, the Los Angeles Rams.
Beginning with a flash of momentous plays, quarterback Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills ended their drive with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Davis.
The LA Rams were wholly underwhelming in the first quarter in which the team went scoreless. The Rams put themselves on the board in the second quarter with a four-yard touchdown and a 57-yard field goal.
The game entered halftime with a 10-10 tie, however, the momentum gained in the second quarter by the Rams seemed to have been lost as Matthew Stafford was sacked which resulted in a 48-yard punt. The Bills responded to the interception in the second quarter by scoring yet again with a seven-yard pass to Isaiah McKenzie to make the score 17-10.
The very next drive, Stafford was sacked again and forced to punt the ball. The third quarter went scoreless and Allen continued his barrage of passes through to the beginning of the fourth quarter. In order to switch up the plays, Allen instead rushed four yards in to the endzone to make the score 24-10.
The Bills pushed through the Rams’ offensive line forcing Stafford to throw an interception right into the hands of Jordan Poyer. The following drive ended with a 53-yard pass by Allen right into the endzone to Stefon Diggs, who was stuck in double coverage. The game ended with a score of 31-10.
Despite having won the previous Super Bowl, the Rams didn’t seem to be ready for the season to start. With the loss of Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr, the Rams struggled to prevent the Bills passing game or keep up the momentum beyond the second quarter.
The Bills, on the other hand, are paving the ways to success and straight to the post season. If they are able to keep up the momentum in the following 17 weeks, the Bills have a good chance of winning another divisional championship and moving onto the Super Bowl.
